So finally, Novitia is kicking off.
With an end to the Indie Game Maker Contest 2015 (www.contest.gamedevfort.com), I can finally say that Novitia will be kicking off as a full company. With new contracts coming in and new ideas flowing, we will finally be expanding out and trying to make a foothold in different industries. I will post as much as I can on this blog so that anyone reading can keep up with our latest developments. But first, I'll need to to introduce myself:
My name is Jack Laborde, and I am the owner and founder of Novitia Studios, Inc. I was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana in the US, and at the time of this post, attending the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. I have been a programmer since I was 12 years old, where I made my first games in the older Game Maker engines (and no, I did not use the drag and drop), and later in the FPS Creator engine (those were some fun days). Since then, I branched out to software development, and my first program was made in Visual Basic, which I remember being just a simple text editor.
Now with lots of learning and practice, I finally learned the skills for real application development and game design, and I hope to keep posting about those apps in the future.
And onto the company itself: Novitia is currently a two man operation with my best friend (Grant Landry) who's an artist. We have started out working from our dorm rooms our freshman year, mainly creating smaller games for ourselves to enjoy. We recently worked on and released the contest version of the Shattering: Machinum (Which we are scrapping and redeveloping now since we don't have the 30-day limitation anymore). And we now are working on another project to be revealed soon. We are also currently working on an application suite (which is under private development, we will not post about that), and another mobile app that'll be useful for college students like us.
So that's it for this post. This one was obviously just introducing myself and the company my friend and I built, and the next posts will focus more on releases and developments.
Everyone has a wonderful and blessed day,
Jack Laborde
